The general manager for the property is already in place – Vince Fiala, who was previously assistant manager at the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, a venue in Larchwood, Iowa, owned by Elite Casino Resorts. Officials hope that the resort will be ready to open sometime in 2024. The company already owns three casinos in its home state of Iowa, as well as another in Illinois.įonner Park, located around 80 miles from Lincoln, already boasts a racetrack, and the new casino will be constructed right next door, with the track’s grandstand being incorporated into the resort.
The project is expected to cost approximately $100 million, and work is being bankrolled by Elite Casino Resorts. Construction of the Grand Island Casino Resort at Fonner Park, Nebraska is set to begin sometime in October, according to officials.
